Resilience Builders Card Game Gets Field-Tested with Children and Youth before 2024 ends
Los Baños, Laguna | December 19, 2025. Komunida Initiative, with the support of the Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF), recently hosted a playtesting session for the Resilience Builders (RB) card game — an interactive educational tool that aims to equip Filipino youth with knowledge on climate justice, creativity, and solidarity through the power of play.
This prototype testing brought together children and youth to engage in hands-on learning, where gameplay scenarios reflected real-world environmental challenges. Feedback from participants was gathered to refine the game mechanics and enhance its impact, ensuring that it remains both educational and enjoyable for its audience.
As the project enters its next exciting phase, Komunida is preparing to train a team of Master Trainers in partnership with YES-O Macatoc National High School and the Rotaract Club of Calumpit. These youth leaders will help roll out the RB gamified education toolkit to more communities across the Philippines, amplifying climate education in grassroots settings.
🚀 Stay tuned for our upcoming call for Master Trainers! Whether you're a student, professional, artist, or advocate, there’s a place for you in this growing movement. Together, let’s co-create safer and more resilient Filipino communities through climate action and education.

PANAWAGAN PARA SA KOLEKTIBONG PAGTULONG: KOMUNIDA STANDS WITH BICOL AMID #KristinePH
September 29, 2024 — Manila Prince Hotel, Philippines. KOMUNIDA proudly took part in the Nagkakaisang Kabataan, Panday Bayanihan Youth Congress, hosted by Kabataan sa Kartilya ng Katipunan, joining more than 500 passionate youth leaders and organizations across the country. Held at the Manila Prince Hotel, this dynamic gathering emphasized the role of youth in leadership, mental well-being, and environmental sustainability—all crucial pillars for building a just and resilient future.
The covenant signing served not only as a symbol of unity but also as a strategic milestone in movement building—a collective assertion that young people are not merely beneficiaries of change, but powerful agents of transformation. In the face of escalating climate threats, democratic backsliding, and growing inequality, the event highlighted the urgent need to organize, mobilize, and advocate for bold policies that reflect the lived realities of communities across the country.
For KOMUNIDA, the event reaffirmed our commitment to co-creating with communities and amplifying youth voices in shaping a future rooted in justice, equity, and sustainability. We believe movement building is essential—not only to generate awareness but to build momentum that pushes for inclusive, transparent, and community-led policy reforms.
“We are not waiting to be saved. We are stepping up, organizing, and leading—because our future cannot be decided without us,” shared Megan Torrente, KOMUNIDA's delegate during the event.
Through our Resilience Builders initiative and sustained engagements like this, we work to ensure that youth participation in climate action is not tokenistic, but transformative. We advocate for meaningful youth inclusion in governance, the development of local and national climate action plans, and the recognition of youth as key stakeholders in community resilience.
Ultimately, policy advocacy and movement building go hand in hand. As KOMUNIDA works with grassroots and community-based organizations, we also engage in coalitions and convenings like Panday Bayanihan. We aim to help cultivate a generation of youth advocates who are equipped not only with the tools to resist and respond but also with the courage to reimagine systems that serve people and the planet.
🌱 Let’s build resilient communities together—one policy, one movement, and one empowered young leader at a time.

📰 Resilience Builders Program on Climate Justice Education
September 1, 2024 — Calumpit, Bulacan | Komunida Initiative successfully held another leg of its Resilience Builders co-creation workshops, this time in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Calumpit (@raccalumpit). The event brought together passionate youth leaders, climate advocates, and volunteers to explore pressing issues like climate justice, sustainable development, and local environmental challenges.
Participants actively engaged in meaningful conversations about the climate risks and impacts specific to their community. The Rotaract Club shared firsthand accounts of flooding, waste management struggles, and food insecurity—highlighting the urgent need for youth-led solutions in the face of the climate crisis.
The workshop also marked an exciting step in the development of an interactive climate action game co-designed by young people. The goal? To educate and mobilize fellow youth to join the fight for climate justice in engaging, creative ways.
“It’s so empowering to be heard and to co-create something that could spark real change. We need more platforms like this where young people can learn, express, and lead,” shared officers of Rotaract Calumpit.
This activity is part of Komunida's Resilience Builders initiative, which aims to ensure that the perspectives of children and youth reflect community narratives on climate issues. By using games and participatory tools, Komunida empowers young people to take an active role in developing climate solutions rooted in their lived experiences.
Stay tuned as we bring this energy to more communities across the country. Together, we build stronger, more resilient futures—one story, one game, one youth leader at a time.
Komunida Turns One: Isang Taon ng Sining, Kultura, at Makabuluhang Ugnayan
🌿 Para sa Mas Marami Pang Pagsasama at Makabuluhang Ugnayan! 🌿
📰 Resilience Builders Program on Climate Justice Education
Macatoc, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro — Climate justice took center stage as KOMUNIDA Initiative joined hands with YES-O Macatoc National High School in a dynamic Resilience Builders Co-Creation Workshop, empowering young leaders to shape community-driven solutions to climate change.
Held earlier this week, the workshop gathered student-environmentalists in an engaging session filled with collaborative discussions, interactive games, and creative brainstorming. This marked a vital leg of KOMUNIDA’s Resilience Builders program — a youth-centered initiative designed to localize climate narratives and co-design community-based responses rooted in lived experiences.
During the workshop, participants identified challenges their communities face — from extreme weather events to food insecurity — and proposed creative ways to engage more young people in environmental action. They explored storytelling, community campaigns, and eco-friendly practices as powerful tools for advocacy.
The Resilience Builders Co-Creation Workshops are designed not just as learning spaces, but as platforms where the voices of children and youth reflect community realities. By integrating games and participatory tools, KOMUNIDA ensures that solutions emerge from the ground up, honoring local wisdom and empowering future leaders.
“Engaging young people at the frontlines of climate injustice isn't just important — it's urgent,” said a KOMUNIDA facilitator. “Through these workshops, we’re seeing how ready and eager our youth are to lead.”
This workshop is part of KOMUNIDA’s larger mission to build local climate resilience through education, creativity, and solidarity. As the climate crisis deepens, the organization is committed to ensuring that young Filipinos not only understand the problem — but are also equipped to be part of the solution.

Mandaluyong City – June 20, 2024. Komunida, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Buayang Bato, held a co-creation workshop that brought together children aged 5 to 12 for a day of storytelling and interactive games focused on climate change and disaster resilience.
Part of the Resilience Builders project and Pahina ng Pangarap, the session aimed to integrate children's perspectives and creativity into the ongoing development of a gamified climate education toolkit. The young participants explored climate justice themes through fun, engaging activities—ensuring that their voices help shape tools meant to empower and educate their communities.
Komunida expresses deep gratitude to SK Buayang Bato for their vital support in making the event possible. As the Resilience Builders initiative continues, Komunida remains committed to building climate-resilient communities through participatory education, especially among Filipino youth.

Indeed, it is high time to address the growing digital divide, and we are fully supportive of efforts to promote digital literacy. Last year, we were fortunate enough to facilitate a Digital Literacy workshop among high school students at Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School in partnership with UP STRATOS. This initiative was made possible through the #DigiTalino: Storified Digital Literacy Curriculum for Filipinos developed by Limitless Lab, which has recently been nominated for the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2024.
Since August 2022, Limitless Lab a Manila-based global social innovation company, has provided digital literacy training to over 10,000 Filipinos, instructing them on combating online misinformation and disinformation. Collaborating with the ASEAN Foundation and aided by Google.org, over 101 digital literacy training sessions were carried out nationwide across schools, barangays, and communities as components of the ASEAN Digital Literacy Programme (ASEAN-DLP).
